The source 2《字孳補》was published later than 海國圖志, it is likely that 字孳補 indirectly quotes 美理哥合省國志畧 (as it states 美理哥國志) via 海國圖志. The reasons are as follows.
美理哥合省國志畧（1838） gives 𫫃:

This revision was published earlier than 海國圖志（1841-1852）, it is likely the specific version used by 海國圖志 authors. Since 𫫃 is pronounced like the letter A in English, I think ⿰川矣 is very likely misprint of 𫫃. But now that we have two evidences and 海國圖志 is an important work, better just encode it as-is.
