崇禎長編 卷二十三

This ⿰舟𢚩 in 崇禎長編 is also transcribed as ⿰舟急: https://db.history.go.kr/unicode/getCodeDetailHtml.do?code=162300.

The shape ⿰舟急 can also be found in 《造舟记》(北京联合出版社, 2022), written by 许路, a prominent scholar born in Fujian who has been fascinated by traditional Chinese wooden sailing ships since childhood, specializes in the history of production technology and pioneers marine experimental archaeology in China. I don't know whether it is the same character as the ⿰舟㥯 here. ⿰舟急 is also yet to be encoded.

(p524. This evidence is provided by Simon So)

(p526)

And, what is the relation of this character to WS2024-03231, in view of the variant readings of 使琉球錄?

《造舟记》 often uses ⿰舟急. The corresponding word seems to be still in use in Fujian.

(p269. The same text can also be found in his research paper 《清初福建赶缯战船复原研究》)

⿰舟急 was also used in an official WeChat account article by the Quanzhou Maritime Museum.
https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/6F6prqkXsLj5btpXuR8Hag

In an introductory article published by the Changsha Museum for the exhibition Journey toward the sea: the story of Fuchuan and maritime voyages—which was hosted by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, and Television, and co-organized by both the Changsha Museum and the Quanzhou Maritime Museum—this character was annotated with the pinyin wěn. It is clear that the character's right component was treated as the phonetic component '㥯'. So I think it is the same character as ⿰舟㥯.

“船壳板钉制完成后,还要再钉上数道船(舟急 wěn) [*船(舟急 wěn):福船建造中的‌船舷侧加固条。],以增强船体的稳性及坚固程度,船(舟急)一般是用一棵杉木对开锯成两半使用,每边船舷平行排列一至五道不等。”

In 廈英大辭典, there is a word, pronounced 穩, meaning “a bead, as running round the outside of a boat”, used in tiām-ún(墊?-), phû-ún (浮?-). It seems to be the word that ⿰舟㥯 records. (This material is found by 水晶狐狸) Yet its meaning seems to differ from 船之底木 as recorded in 使琉球錄.

许路 said that ⿰舟急 is used in Southern Min. (See the evidence above.)

In view of the variant readings of 使琉球錄 (See the evidence in WS2024-03231), ⿰舟遠 and ⿰舟㥯 seem to record the same word. 水晶狐狸 guessed that it is due to a corresponding between Min Nan and Min Dong dialects: un (Min Nan) ↔uoŋ (Fu Zhou). Such a corresponding is rare but does exist, see for example 冤. Also helpful: it is attested in 班華字典 that in the Fu An dialect 遠 rhymes with 穩. (This evidence is also provided by 水晶狐狸)
